7/16/2026 – Swim Lesson Weather Update (9:30 a.m. – Noon)
We are closely monitoring today’s weather and understand many families are wondering how it may affect swim lessons.
Our instructors and management team will continue to evaluate conditions throughout the morning. If there is a break in the weather and we can safely reopen the pool, we will resume swim lessons as soon as possible. We are not canceling the entire morning in advance—we will assess conditions as they develop.
Here’s what that means for today’s 30-minute lesson blocks between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.:
- If lightning is observed or thunder is heard, all swim activities must stop immediately.
- Everyone must exit the water and seek shelter.
- The pool must remain closed for 30 minutes after the last observed lightning or heard thunder.
- If additional lightning is seen or thunder is heard during that 30-minute waiting period, the 30-minute clock starts over.
Because of this, it’s possible that some lesson times may be canceled while later lessons are still able to take place if the weather improves. Our staff will continue monitoring conditions and will resume lessons at the first opportunity it is safe to do so.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we follow these nationally recognized safety guidelines to protect all of our swimmers, families, and staff.

About the Edwards Family Aquatic Center
The Edwards Family Aquatic Center opened in May 2021 as part of Fircrest’s vision to create a modern, inclusive gathering place for the community. The facility offers a 25-yard pool with six lap lanes, a diving board, a whirlpool play area, and a kiddie pool. The pool house features locker rooms, a party room, and a community kitchen, providing a welcoming space for recreation and events.
