FirCRUST Pie Bake-off

Do you like to bake pies? Do you have what it takes to bring home the Blue Ribbon? Or maybe even the Championship Title?

Enter the 4th Annual FirCRUST Pie Bake-Off and find out! Our Team of “Celebrity” judges are excited to sample and judge your specialty pie. Prizes and bragging rights included!

Sign up begins June 3rd for Fircrest residents.* There’s NO registration fee.

LOCATION:      Fircrest Community Center

TIMES:

8:00 – 9:30 am  Deliver your pie

Location: Fircrest Community Center Multi-Purpose Room.

Pies delivered after 9:30 am will not be accepted.

10:45 am           Judging

12:30 noon        Award Presentation

6:00 pm            Pick-up pies / pie plates

DEADLINE TO REGISTER: Friday, July 12th at 5:00 pm (or until registration is full)

OFFICIAL RULES:

• Pies entered in the contest may not contain raw or uncooked eggs
• No professional bakers permitted
• Pies and crust must be 8-10”
• All pies and crusts must be home-made and made from scratch
• Categories for pie judging will be determined the day of the event based on which pies are available for judging.  Possible 8 Categories (but not limited to): Apple, Berry, Blackberry or Marion Berry, Peach, Nut, Meringue, Cherry, Savory, Vegan, GF, etc.
• Please place baker’s name on bottom of your pie plate
• 8 Blue ribbons will be awarded, one per category AND one over-all Grand Champion ribbon
• All winners will be announced at 12:30 at the Community Center Multi-Purpose Room. Please join us! (not required)
• Winning pies will be displayed in the Multi-Purpose Room by the windows for viewing from the outside until Saturday at 4:00 pm
• A list of award winners will be posted on the Community Center Multi-Purpose Room window and also the Fircrest FUN DAYS Facebook page
• Names of the bakers will be revealed only after the judging process has concluded
• Pie plates should be picked up between 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Multi-Purpose Room on July 20th
• Remaining pies will consumed and judged by the Volunteer Team for the Volunteers’ Choice Award
• The Volunteers’ Choice Award will be posted at 6:00 pm

JUDGING CRITERIA:

1) Over-all appearance

2) Texture and taste of crust and/or topping

3) Taste and consistency of the filling

Complete this on-line registration form OR deliver / mail a printed copy of the registration form to: Fircrest Community Center, 555 Contra Costa Ave, Fircrest WA 98466. No cost to enter.

Here’s what you can expect at the 2024 Fircrest FUN DAYS!

The 2024 Friday Night FUN will feature a large variety of outdoor games, competitions, activities and FUN, and culminate in an ultimate 80’s Dance Party. The evening will also feature the Kids’ Makers Market and a full line up of food trucks offering a fantastic variety of food options for purchase.

On Saturday, FUN DAYS will feature live concerts and entertainment. We’ll have an impressive array of artist and maker vendor booths; a full line up food trucks; a beer garden; games; yoga in the park … for adults AND kids, KIDS ZONE, Pet Adoption booth and more. We’ll bring back the Furry 4K Pet Walk. We’ll also have the Fir’CRUST’ Pie Bake-off, Junior Bake-off and Watermelon Eating Contest. The Saturday festivities will conclude with a spectacular firework show that evening. Fircrest FUN DAYS is a family friendly event with activities for all age groups.
