Infrasource, a sub-contractor for Puget Sound Energy, is starting work on a natural gas main project Monday, April 25, 2022. This project will span all of Summit Ave from Columbia St out to South Orchard St then south down Orchard approximately 100ft. Coordinated efforts between Fircrest Public Works and PSE started in November of 2021. The project came about due to low psi concerns in the area. PSE and Infrasource are anticipating this project to take approximately 6 to 8 weeks to complete the gas main portion.
As this project came to light, Fircrest PW identified a water main upgrade to coincide with the natural gas project. The water main upgrade portion of this project will only span from Columbia St to Stanford. With the timing of both projects, it was determined in the best interest of all to pave back this section of road from curb to curb at the same time. Public Works is currently working with an Engineering consultant for design and should be posting the bid package soon. The current plan is to complete both utility upgrades and pavement restoration before Fall of 2022. Continued communication with the surrounding area will take place throughout the project.
