We responded to a theft of a package off the porch at a residence in the 900 block of Dartmouth this week.  Our victim was able to capture the theft on video.  Our victim provided us with a video of the suspect stealing the package off the porch.  We shared the video with all our officers and our officers were able to positively identify the suspect.  Knowing where the suspect lives we sought him out and were able to take him into custody after a foot pursuit.  We were able to book the suspect into jail as he had other felony warrants out for his arrest.

We responded to a possible burglary in progress on the 100 block of Summit Thursday morning.  Our officer quickly arrived on the scene and as he approached the residence a vehicle was backing out of the driveway.  Our officer approached the vehicle and told the two occupants of the vehicle he needed to talk with them.  The vehicle then quickly backed down the street and struck a resident’s parked vehicle.  The vehicle then fled southbound on Summit.  The vehicle turned west on Princeton and our officer observed the vehicle continue to travel westbound across Alameda and then turned into the parking lot behind Espresso Yourself Café.  Our officer turned into the parking lot and the suspects bolted from the vehicle running westbound through the business area parking lot.  We were able to capture one of the suspects and the other continues to elude us at this time.  We recovered the suspect vehicle which was later reported stolen.  Our suspect had a felony warrant out for his arrest and we confirmed the Fircrest residence was burglarized.  We impounded the stolen vehicle and will be serving a search warrant on the vehicle to recover the stolen property.  We could observe much of the stolen property through the windows of the vehicle.  We are attempting to identify the driver and second suspect.

We responded to a report of a suspicious person in the Commons at after 2:00 am this past week.  Our officer quickly arrived in the area along with University Place Officers.  They located a suspect on Estate Place.  The subject ended up admitting to breaking into several cars and we were able to recover many articles of stolen property.  Because of booking restrictions, we were unable to book the suspect into jail and he was released pending arraignment.

I applaud our community for their willingness to get involved and for looking out for each other.  These arrests would not have been possible without our community’s assistance.  We know and realize that we cannot successfully do our jobs without the support of those we serve.
