
David has been a dedicated member of the Fircrest City Council since 1992. He served a total of 24 years, including 20 years as Mayor. After a brief break from public service, David was successfully reelected in 2018, 2022, and 2026, is currently beginning his third consecutive term.
Throughout his time on the City council, David has served on numerous committees, focused on improving the quality of life in Fircrest. His accomplishments include leading successful property annexations, establishing a highly productive Fire and EMS partnership with the city of Tacoma, spearheading critical upgrades to the city’s water system to improve distribution and fire flow. He has constantly worked to keep utility rates as low as possible for residence. He remains a huge advocate for Public Safety and Parks and Recreation.
David has played a key role in ensuring the completion of the Pool and Parks Bond, worked closely with former State Senator Shirley Wesley and other state legislators to prevent the closure of the Highway 16 off-ramp, and chaired City’s Investment Committee for 20 years. Under his leadership, the city built and paid off both the Public Works facility and the City Hall.
In addition, David served as a member of the Pierce County Cities and Towns Association, helping to create the regional zoo tax. He has been instrumental in expanding the City’s park acreage, and in creating Fircrest‘s beautification program, which provides hanging baskets, shrubs, and flowers throughout the cities traffic islands.
A Fircrest resident since 1990, David owned and operated Viafore‘s Italian Delicatessen for 35 years before retiring in 2020. He is a graduate of Stadium High School.
